The Liverpool Cutaneous Lymphoma Clinic
This has been up and running now since September 2008. This is a Supranetwork clinic that can take referrals from within the Merseyside & Cheshire Cancer Network and North Wales. It is held in the OPD of the Linda McCartney Centre, Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUH), Liverpool (http://www.rlbuht.nhs.uk/) on the last Monday morning of each month and the benefit is that it is a multi-disciplinary clinic with a number of clinicians or their deputies in attendance:
Dr Richard Azurdia (Consultant Dermatologist)
Dr Isobel Syndikus (Consultant Clinical Oncologist)
Professor Andrew Pettit (Consultant Haematologist)
Dr Nagesh Kalakonda (Consultant Haematologist)
Mr Chris Ward (Lymphoma Specialist Nurse)
Mrs Diane Chandler (MDT Co-ordinator)
After each clinic there is formal MDT discussion & pathology review with the following pathologists:
Dr Niamh Leonard (Consultant Pathologist)
Dr Sarah Coupland (Consultant Pathologist)
GPs, Consultant Dermatologists and Consultant Haematologists will be the main doctors referring patients to this clinic. Generally speaking it will be for patients with B-cell lymphoma and stages IIb – IV cutaneous T cell lymphoma.
We have access to the following treatments:
- TLO1 narrowband UVB phototherapy (Broadgreen Hospital)
- PUVA (Broadgreen Hospital)
- Photodynamic therapy (Broadgreen Hospital)
- Chemotherapy (RLUH)
- Local radiotherapy (CCO)
- Total skin electron beam therapy, TSEB (CCO)
- Extracorporeal photophoresis, ECP (Manchester)
- Research trial recruitment (RLBUHT)
This clinic has strong links with the same clinic at the Christie hospital in Manchester which is helpful to have colleagues with similar expertise.
